Sigh. "That's not what I was going to suggest, but I appreciate your restraint. Perhaps we should resume our meditations... Or find you a willing partner to cater to your needs."
Spock clicks his tongue and says a few words in Vulcan. Tiberius pops his head out from one of the bed's holes, nose twitching. Within several seconds he scurries over to Spock who picks him up in a cupped hand and pets him gently.

Spock just gives him a Look. "I could make an attempt but I highly doubt I'm the most qualified person."
Translation: do you not have better friends for this?
Translation: do you not have better friends for this?
Do they? Hm. Perhaps its time to test that.
"I think we should send the rats back home."
Quietly spoken, holding a content Tiberius in his lap and still petting, but he's looking at BJ when he says it. They were co-parents in this strange endeavor after all.

Acknowledgment wasn't inherently agreement. Spock watches him closely. The rats, meanwhile, respond favorably to the whistle and one by one begin to emerge and join the odd couple co-parents.
"Is that even possible? You're more familiar with this ship than I am. Could we request a brief stop?"
"Is that even possible? You're more familiar with this ship than I am. Could we request a brief stop?"
"Yes?" Spock prompts, and waits for him to elaborate.
"That is one possibility. Another is that perhaps this might not be the best environment for them." He pauses, glancing down at Tiberius who, by now, had fallen asleep on Spock's legs. He sighs with resignation. "I have not entirely come to a decision yet, but logically... It's the right choice."
"'Attached'? You were going to consume them for a meal." Sorry, BJ, he's not letting you forget that little tidbit.
Spock decides not to question that first statement further. He's really better off not knowing.
"I recall that." he replies to the second. As he's sufficiently pinned to his seat, he'll lean back and steeple his fingers in a meditative pose. "They were on my mind the second I awoke. I had concerns. Such as, what might've happened if I'd disappeared from the ship, and you hadn't been there to care for them."

"...Kid?" Okay that had him intrigued. "Are you referring to Jim?"
Says the demon-turned-human who resorted to throwing things. He won't point that out; he didn't need to. Besides, he was still caught up on this stranger.
"Could you describe this individual? What he looked like, or what he wore?"
"Could you describe this individual? What he looked like, or what he wore?"
His eyes close just slightly and he lets out a long exhale through his nostrils; an audible facepalm.
"...Right. Of course." Instead of pointing out the obvious unhelpfulness, he instead asks, "Have you bounced many quarters off of people?"

That's a curious mental image. He did ask, though. He reaches down and pets Tiberius. The other rats had divided loyalties: some went to BJ to find a spot to rest, others to Spock. It was all rather adorable.
"Next suitable port, then. If they wish to depart." It was a tentatively finalized decision.

[Loki chuckles and nods.]
Fine. Alright. Another try.
[He sobers up instantly.]
Captain Rogers, I just wanted to say that I have a better understanding of what your city went through when I led the Chitauri invasion. Being on the other side of things in San Francisco put things into a perspective I couldn't fully see, before. I...
[Oh, this is actually very difficult if he's taking this seriously. Even if it isn't to Rogers' face.]
I am deeply sorry, though I know that will never be truly sufficient. If I am able to go home, I will...do. Something.
[Loki squints.] I should probably figure out something to offer if I'm going to offer anything.
