The fuck? Unusual that Betelgeuse should turn down a chance to have some individual attention paid. A thinking pause resounds outside his door, and then. Hange continues banging on it.

"What's going on? Let me in!"

[beejfu]

Stomp stomp stomp.

Deadbolt; thrown.

Stomping back to bed, with a helpful shout of;

"Fuck you"

Hange tries the door again. Locked? Locked.

"Alright. You've left me with no choice. I'm scaling the outside of this hotel."

[beejfu]

No answer; BJ is currently rolling himself under the bed. It's a place where monsters feel safest.

[14thcommander]

He has about fifteen minutes of solitude. Then pounding echoes from the sliding glass windows on his balcony.

"Betelgeuse! Betelgeuse! I was gonna take you out to lunch! I have money to buy you things! Open up!"

Betelgeuse is in full mope mode, lying under the bed on his back picking at the bits in the mattress while grieving to himself, alternating between wiping at his eyes and chewing on some beef jerky he stole from a vending machine.

Hange's banging on the door surprises him, making him sit up with a yelp and smack his head on the bedframe.

"Rrrgh! WHAT part of fuck off is so hard for you to GET? If I come out there it'll be to shove you off that railing, Hange! You'll be spending Christmas in a BODY CAST."

[14thcommander]

There is a pause, another moment of peace for him. And then Hange loudly talking to nobody outside. She's making an aside.

"Wow, I wonder what's gotten into Betelgeuse? Just a couple days ago he was fine. It's too bad he can't tell me what it is, because then we could work together to figure out a solution, or if it's really unsolvable, I could leave him alone to work it out."

[beejfu]

He glowers at the bottom of the mattress.

"I know an aside when I hear one, Hange, and you are NOT going to lure me out. Not even if you are on a literal balcony."

[14thcommander]

Ah, nuts.

"Look. Just tell me what's eating at you here. If I can't help, I will actually leave you alone."

[beejfu]

Frustrated, he rolls out from under the bed to walk over to Hange. BJ shoves both balcony doors open in the hopes of Hange catching one to the face.

"What's EATING AT ME is that no one here can SEE me, Hange!" He rages. The room's lights behind him all turn red; a vase of flowers shakes, and is knocked to the floor.

"It's like I'm back in freaking Connecticut! This vacation was supposed to be FOR ME and instead I go to check in and people look right through me!"

[14thcommander]

Hange blows right by him, making for the hotel room door to throw the deadbolt open. She has no desire to get shoved off a balcony, and spend their entire vacation time here in a bodycast.

"All right. Fuck. Let me put in an admiral request. Let's see if he can't fix that. Why couldn't you just say that?"

[beejfu]

He flops dramatically on his back on the bed.

"Yeah, let me just call up captain obvious on my cell here. Fuck off. Do what you want and leave me alone to suffer."

[14thcommander]

Hange rolls her eyes, pulls out her communicator, and sends a text.

She will hang around til she gets some kind of reply unless Betelgeuse boots her out.

[beejfu]

He rolls, off the bed, onto the floor, and under the bed itself once again.

Where he'll lie, sour and miserable, until the Admiral reaches back to her.

[14thcommander]

"Granted, and I quote, 'against my better judgement.'"

Hange clicks her tongue in satisfaction.

"Well, more dangerous inmates than you are probably out there running around visible, so I don't see what he's complaining about."

[beejfu]

A silence in between the moping, before a hopeful, hesitant demon asks;

"You mean I can go downstairs and literally scare the shit out of the bellboy who walked right through me this morning?"

[14thcommander]

"You may not literally scare the shit out of him. He didn't do that to you on purpose, you realize? You're sort of on probation here."

[beejfu]

“Probation, huh?” He rubs his chin, considering.

“Terms?”

[14thcommander]

"You need to treat the civilians here nicely. No murdering them, no arson, no scaring them to death or scaring the literal shit out of them."

[beejfu]

"There's a biiiig gap between treating somebody nice and not murdering them." He points out helpfully.

"What do I get if I do?"

[14thcommander]

"You get to stay visible and do some fun things with me. I want to learn to scuba dive and surf, though, so I'm expecting you to manage yourself while I'm away." Hange cocks an eyebrow at him.

"Anyway you're right - there is a big gap. I'm not saying you can't mess with people or be weird, but I do want you to be kind to them and no murder is a good place to start. You've got to manage your stuff."

[beejfu]

Such a shudder at the idea of water.

"Okay, barring the fact that you're an idiot who I hope falls in and drowns if you're going to be like that...fine! Deal! Now piss off, I have a building to haunt."

[14thcommander]

"You don't wanna go get lunch?"

Pause.

Stomach rumble.

"Fine. Lunch first. Then haunting."
